VII Preparing your Presentation

Now it is time to present your findings to the world.  The display board will help, but it is your job to tell people.  Page 30 has a good outline to follow.  It is simply a recap of your project and what you found out.  It is best to have index cards at the time of your presentation.  With index cards, you will always know where you are and it is more difficult to get lost.  Simply write each point from the worksheet on a single card.

You will present your finding in front of your classmates, or if you are lucky, in front of the science fair judges.  The hardest part of your presentation is getting over the fact that you are speaking in front of people.  There are a few ways of ways to get over this, they are known as the 3 P’s:

1)    Prepare: Nothing will give you more confidence that knowing than you did all you could to get ready for your presentation.  Provide yourself with notes to give you an outline of what to say.  If you are ever at a loss for words, just look at your notes.

2)    Practice: The more you practice, the better you will feel come presentation time.  Gather your friends and family and give your presentation a couple of times until you feel comfortable.

3)    Pretend: When it comes time to give your presentation, pretend that you are at home practicing in front of your family.  This will help you relax and feel confident!!!

VIII. Reflecting on the Process

Now that you are done with your project, think back on what you did.  Did you do your best?  Would you do some things differently?  Now is the time to think about these things because they are fresh on your mind.  Jot some notes down in your Science Fair Notebook.
